Monieca and I are both natives of Kentucky. We attended the same high school and her family belonged to the small mountain church I began serving as Pastor during my Sophomore year at Cumberland College. We were married in 1982 while I was attending the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, where I earned my Master of Divinity.
After I graduated from seminary, we moved to Sumter, SC where I served as Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church for nearly four years. While there our son, Steven, was born. He now attends the University of South Carolina.
In 1987 God led us to Rock Hill and First Baptist Church. Our daughter, Jacqueline, was born six months later. She now attends Winthrop University.

I have fond memories of growing up on a farm and attending small rural schools. Sundays were a day for picnics and fishing. Dad was a coal miner and mom a home maker.
My high school years were an exciting time of change. I became a new person when I accepted Jesus and I was called to preach at age 17. The first time I preached was during a youth rally and my text was I John 2:16. I've had a passion to preach God's word ever since and I'm committed to having a word from God each time I step into the pulpit.
I love this church. Serving God here has been a privilege and I give Him praise for all He has done.
Other things you might enjoy knowing about me are...
♦ I'm a die-hard Kentucky Wildcat fan
♦ I fix the turkey and stuffing each Thanksgiving
♦ I like Bluegrass music
♦ I take a nap most Sundays while watching NASCAR
