Tears and smiles accompanied the soreness felt by 1,412 patients treated during the Dental Access Days @ First Baptist last week. About $950,000 in free services were provided by more than 300 dental professionals, supported by hundreds of community volunteers from about 20 local churches and agencies. More than 300 of those volunteers were from FBC, with several serving more than one day.
We have received telephone calls, emails, and letters from patients and dental professionals thanking First Baptist for making our campus available for this needed event and bragging on our volunteers and staff. Apart from worshiping our Lord each Sunday, this is probably the most significant service we’ve rendered to our Rock Hill community since we relocated a decade ago. The generous and sacrificial gifts of God’s people over the years that built these facilities made it possible for us impact so many lives last week.
The media coverage was outstanding. You can get a real sense the magnitude of DAD and the impact it had on people by checking out the sampling of TV news reports linked on our “Summer of Sharing” blog. Just visit the church’s web page www.fbcrockhill.org and click on the “Summer of Sharing” blog. There you’ll find links to four videos and the thirty minute radio program “Straight Talk” broadcast on WRHI last Friday from our worship center. If you were not in the worship center last Friday or Saturday to see first-hand what was happening, please check out the videos and radio program. You will be blessed and you will “like” your church even more than you already do.
I’ve posted some photographs below to give you a sense of what took place. But don’t stop there – check out the videos.
Your Pastor,
Steve Hogg
