Yesterday I announced via video in both worship services that FBC has been asked to sponsor First Calvary Baptist Church for membership in the York Baptist Association. We did the same thing back in the 1990s for New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, which became the first predominately African-American church to join our local association.
Over the next several months our two churches will get to know each other as we worship and serve Jesus together. At some point in the future, our church will then vote on recommending First Calvary for full membership in the YBA. The YBA will then vote on their membership.
Pastor William Buie from First Calvary preached yesterday in my absence and their praise team sang. From what I’ve seen on social media, people are excited. I will preach the first service in their upcoming revival on Sunday afternoon, August 14 at 3:00 pm. You are invited to attend that service. It will be a great opportunity for you to meet some of our brothers and sisters at First Calvary. Our choir will also sing in that service.
William and I have been meeting off and on for breakfast and lunch the past two years. We did not want to rush this process, but take our time and do it the right way. For a partnership to be stable, it needs a solid foundation. That is what we want to build.
While our country seems to be coming apart at the seams, it is a blessing to know that we are coming together in God’s kingdom. Praise be to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

I am looking forward to this adventure. As the mom in a multiracial family, I’m thrilled that FBC is not letting the color line separate believers.

Yesterday was a great opportunity to hear Pastor Buie and hear some fine music from their praise team. Had an opportunity to meet, fellowship and worship with of those from First Calvary that attended yesterday’s service. I think everyone enjoyed being together.
