In Paul’s New Testament writings there are occasional mentions of people who gave up on Jesus and abandoned the faith. One example is II Timothy 4:10:
“for Demas deserted me, because he loved this present world”
Jesus talked about the “worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things” choking God’s word in our lives and making us unfruitful (Mark 4:19).
Because so many who profess faith in Jesus struggle to be faithful and grow in their walk with Christ, we should be praying for one another daily. Don’t wait until someone stumbles to pray for them. Pray while they are standing strong, so that they never fall.
That is part of our focus this week during our Five Week Challenge. Praying for the spiritual well-being of other believers. Praying that they continue being faithful and for their protection from Satan’s attacks. If they’ve already fallen, praying for their restoration. Fasting on their behalf, praying that God does a great work in the lives of those who are struggling spiritually. Praying for more than physical well-being.
Who have you prayed for today?
