“It’s raining here this morning” is the title to an old bluegrass song by the Stanley Brothers. I thought about that tune when I woke this morning to heavy rain for what seemed like the 100th day in a row. The ground is saturated, streams are overflowing their banks, and some roads have puddles of standing water. Enough already – I’m ready for some sunshine.
While I may be ready for the rain to stop, I continue praying for God to rain His glory and power all over us at FBC.
Just like the song Wendy sang last Sunday says:
“Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence Lord”
In the Bible God’s glory is often synonymous with His presence and His power. So as we enter a new year I encourage you to pray for God’s glory to be evident in your personal relationship with Him and in our worship services.
Last Sunday I challenge each of us to take forty days starting January 1 to read through the forty devotions in the “Draw the Circle” book hundreds of us read last January. Another 70 people got copies of the book last week and a few copies will be available this Sunday as well.
The prayer we are praying is the one Moses prayed in Exodus 33:18: “I pray You, show me Your glory!”
Imagine our lives and our church when that prayer is answered. So start praying!
