4RockHill First Kids Summer Edition
The Bible teaches us to “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39) and that we are to “serve one another in love” (Galatians 5:13) and” encourage one another” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
For this reason, it is important that we start training our children early on to see needs in the community around them. This also helps them to recognize that, no matter what their age, they can take part in encouraging/ helping others and assisting with needs in the community.
Little Food Pantry/ Blessing Box/ Community Fridge
Week of July 5-9
Sit down with your child and make a grocery list. Then go together to the grocery to purchase the items and then to deliver them. Let them experience helping others.

- The Community Fridge accepts non-perishable items but is also able to accept refrigerated items such as fresh vegetables, fruit, Lunchables, yogurt, cheese, eggs, deli meat, water etc…

Beautification
Week of July 12-16
As a family, choose a park, library, school, or location of your choosing and pick up litter. You will need to wear gloves and a carry a bag to place the trash in. Talk to your child about the importance of taking care of God’s World.

Chalk Drawings
Week of July 19-23
Think about someone in your community that may need some encouragement. Purchase some sidewalk chalk and decorate the driveway of that person. ( Be sure that they will approve of you doing so. ) You can include scripture, art, etc… If you aren’t able to think of someone, come to the church parking lot and decorate the driveways and parking places for our members and guests. Be creative!!

Blessing a Widow/Widower
Week of July 26-30
Talk to your child about what the words “widow/widower” mean. Talk about ways that your child could bless a widow/widower that you may know or one here at FBC. Ideas might include taking some cut flowers in a vase to them, making a card, or even pulling weeds in their yard. If you need the name of a widow/widower, please email Mrs. Holly at hollym@fbcrockhill.org. Before delivering, you will want to call ahead and let them know that you will be dropping off a surprise for them.

Pastor Hogg Appreciation
Week of August 2-6
We are so blessed here at First Baptist to be led by Pastor Steve Hogg. He has served our church and the Rock Hill community for many decades. Talk to your child about the many responsibilities that Pastor Hogg has (preparing sermons, assisting families when there has been a death, counseling, meeting with different groups, leading the congregation, studying). Think of a way that your child and family could encourage Pastor Hogg. Make a card for him, draw a picture, decorate his parking space at the church etc…. Let him know that he is loved and appreciated!

Your Choice
Week of August 9-13
School is starting next week! Perhaps you would like to make something special for teachers you may know. Another idea would be to recognize our policemen, nurses, firefighters, service workers or even our Mayor John Gettys. There are an endless number of ways that you could encourage those that make our community a special place to live. You can even invite them to attend a Worship Service at FBC! Be creative!
