While I’ve posted several photographs with brief comments about our trip on Instagram, I haven’t posted anything on this blog. I’m sure some of you are wondering why. The short answer is technology.

We packed light for our flight and did not bring a laptop. Instead we brought an iPad, which has not worked very well or quickly for uploading photographs. In contrast I can post to Instagram quickly and easily from my iPhone. So here is the adjusted plan:

This post includes few pics to wet your appetite. Then Will Beaty will upload some of the pics from Instagram to this blog. Once we arrive at Jacqueline’s house in a few days, I’ll use her computer to write some stories and show pics that are not on Instagram.

We’ve been in Rome since Friday and toured the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica, Circus Maximus, Paletine Hill, Caracalla Baths, and more. We also took a day trip to see the excavated ruins of Pompeii and hiked to the top of Mount Vesuvius to look at the massive crater created by the volcano that buried Pompeii. Finally we’ve enjoyed several meals at street side cafés. I especially liked the Roman Saltimbocca and Ossobuco. The grilled lamb I had for dinner tonight wasn’t too band either.

Tomorrow we hop on a train and travel to Florence.

Ciao,

Pastor Steve Hogg
