July 16, 2014 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

Last night Liam went to sleep holding my hand.

Since I was the last one to tell him goodnight, I decided to lay on the bed with him for a little while. Within five minutes he was sound asleep. During those same five minutes I recalled dozens of memories from his first two years when he lived with us. Many nights I had laid in bed with him reading a book or just being silly before he eventually fell asleep. Last night felt wonderfully familiar.

At 5:30 this morning Monieca and I awoke to Liam standing by our bed. He crawled into bed with us and for the next three hours we slept. That too was a familiar experience.

Pleasant memories are a good thing. Making new ones is even better. I’m glad the memories Monieca and I are making on this trip include more than historical sights and works of art. After all, it’s people that make life special

I pray you are making some really good memories this summer.
