This is my first weekly update on my journey to losing another 20 pounds. As I mentioned Sunday, I got off to an unexpected really good start – because I was sick most of last week. Unable to eat much, I lost seven pounds. My challenge this week will be maintaining that weight loss since I’m now eating again. I appreciate all of you who are praying for me.

The 50 pounds I originally lost meant replacing my entire wardrobe, which wasn’t exactly cheap. What surprised me was I had to also replace my shoes. That’s right, my shoes no longer fit. If I wasn’t careful, I’d be walking and one of my loafers would suddenly go flying off my foot. Since I have a big foot buying shoes can be a real pain. I typically wear either a 13 or 14, depending on the shoe. I also have a wide foot, so most of my dress shoes are purchased online. Stores just don’t carry much in my size.

The point I’m trying to make is that any positive lifestyle change brings with it other changes – some we expect and some we don’t. Some are fun and others can be challenging. In the end, however, it is definitely worth it. So don’t allow the unexpected and challenging changes to defeat you. The good will always outweigh (pun intended) the bad.
