February 12, 2015 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

I’m one day late posting this weekly update on my weight loss and I’m also up one pound. While I regret being a day late, I actually feel pretty good about gaining the pound. You’ll remember that I lost seven pounds the first week – which is a lot of weight to lose in one week – due to being sick that week. Now I’m well and eating again. I knew the challenge would be to not gain most of that weight back. Gaining one pound means I’m still down six pounds after two weeks.

Now the real work begins. Losing weight while healthy and eating. Of course that’s always the conundrum, isn’t it? How do we lose weight while eating and going about our normal everyday life?

Since we’ve talked a lot about praying over those things God wants to do or accomplish in our lives in 2015 instead of simply making a New Year’s resolution, this week I want ask you to pray every day this coming week for me. Ask the Holy Spirit to do the following for me:

  • Prompt me when I’m about to make a bad eating decision
  • Increase my desire to take better care of my body – His temple
  • Give me great joy as I feast upon God’s word – so much so that it really does become like honey in my mouth (Psalm 119:103)
  • Give me focus, discipline, and determination

While you’re at it, pray the same for yourself.

I’d love to hear how you’re doing – with losing weight, exercising, having a daily quiet time, reaching out to a family member, not smoking, going to Sunday School, or any of the many other things God may have put on your heart last month as we talked about living life without regrets. I invite you to take a moment and share with me how you’re doing. Just leave a comment below where it says “leave a comment.”
