I had a strong Christian upbringing with several pastors, many missionaries, and Christian teachers a part of my immediate family. But, as the saying goes, going into McDonald's does not make you a hamburger, just as a Christian family does not make you a Christ follower. I did, however, accept Christ as my personal savior when I was a child, but never felt a need to develop my relationship with him, because I relied on my family background for that. So, when the teen years hit, along with the pressures of being accepted, I caved and had one foot in the world and one with Christ. It worked for a while, and it seemed feasible to continue along that path.
When I met Hugh in high school, he and I started attending church together, but again, I never really gave Christ my life fully. It was not until we lost our second child at birth that God really spoke to me. I re-dedicated my life to Him and to His service, got baptized and began a life of joy. Walking with Him, talking with Him and leaning on Him for everything has been a blessing. My life verse is Prov. 3: 5,6.
Prayer is central in my life and I covet the time that I spend alone with Him.
