I was born into a Christian Family to Christian parents. Church was always an important part of my life and we were there almost every time the doors were opened. I was not a bad kid, but I knew I had to do something special to get Jesus into my life. I heard plenty of sermons about Heaven and Hell and I knew I did not want to go to Hell. When I was in the third grade I heard a sermon with a story about a girl who told her friends she wanted to be a Christian, but was going to wait a while. She died in a car wreck on the way home from church that night. That story scared me and that night I prayed to accept Christ into my heart and was baptized soon after that.
When I was about 45 I began to have some doubts about my relationship with Jesus. I had been doing all the right church stuff and living a good life, but I felt something was missing. That’s when I heard a preacher tell some stories about people who thought they were Christians but were not. This really got me thinking that I needed to know for certain what my spiritual condition was. Several months later I rededicated my life to Jesus and was baptized again. I felt a peace in my heart right then that I had not felt before. I knew at that moment, without a doubt that if I died, I would go to Heaven and spend eternity with Jesus.
No matter what has happened in my life since then, I have felt the comfort of someone who really loves me giving me a big tight hug and I don’t want it to stop.
