Growing up, my family believed that church was important and we were active participants. There were many adult teachers that taught me about Jesus. I learned that some of my actions and decisions weren’t pleasing to my parents, but more importantly were not pleasing to Jesus. I also learned that Jesus loved me and died for me on the cross. At 8 years old, I knew I needed Jesus to direct my life. So I prayed and asked Jesus to forgive me and began a personal relationship with Him.
I joined the church and began studying my Bible, listening to what the pastor was saying, and growing in my relationship with Jesus. Later, I sang in the choir, played piano, and taught a group of younger girls. Then at 33, when I was married with children, I realized I hadn’t given Jesus complete control of my life. So I rededicated my life to Him.
Trusting Jesus hasn’t guaranteed me an easy life. I lost my first daughter to cancer when she was 3 and my husband divorced me when my younger daughters were 8 and 10. These trials have shown me that I cannot rely on my strength but only on Jesus and I grew to have even a closer walk with Him through both of these life-changing events.
Twenty years later Jesus blessed me with a precious, godly man who loves the Lord and is a leader in our home and church. I am proud to be his helpmate. I know without a doubt Jesus placed us and our families together for this time in our lives. I thank the Lord everyday for always being by my side and for His many blessings.
To God be all honor and praise.
