I grew up in a Christian home with parents who loved Jesus and told me bedtime stories about Him. Listening to my granddaddy pray and hearing stories about the early days of my church such as my grandparents taking barrels of drinking water to church meetings helped me to want to be like Jesus. At the age of nine during a worship service, I asked Jesus to be my friend and committed my life to Him.
Throughout my life God has kept me safe and provided for me. In college He kept me from making bad choices. He provided Christian roommates and friends. I remember one time when one girl cursed in front of us, but she quickly apologized because she knew my roommate and I didn’t do that. God also put a Godly man in my life whom I later married and we raised our children to know Him. I’ve learned that I can depend on God and He has given my life purpose and peace.
I am grateful that I have known God’s love all my life and I want this to continue for my family in generations to come. The last time my 3 year old grandson, who lives out of town, visited us, he said, “CeCe, when are you coming to visit my church?” He wants me to see his class where he is learning stories about Jesus.
I want him, and all my grandchildren, to love the stories about Jesus so they will know Him and tell their children too. I can’t imagine a better family heritage to pass on to those who will come after me.
