I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 7 years old while attending a church service. Attending church was a big part of my life growing up. So when my life began with Jesus, it was full of church activities.
As I grew older and entered junior high and high school, I was not following the path of Christ as I should. I thought it best to do what others did to look cool and try to be popular. As Jesus never left me, he would tug at my heart and bring me back to Him. After graduating from high school, I entered college and thought it was an opportunity for me to do as “I pleased and enjoy my freedom”. God had a plan for me to stay close to Him – He placed people in my path that loved Him and they helped to guide me. Two of those friends lived next door to me my freshman year. I find that because I chose to follow Jesus, He has kept me free from being in the wrong place at the wrong time and kept me safe from mishaps along the way. After graduating from college, I moved to Camden to begin my career. I joined 1st Baptist Church. One Sunday, there was a guest preacher asking us “are you sure of your salvation?” I had strayed many times and wanted to be sure that Jesus was my Savior. I renewed my life to Him that day. My daily prayer is from Psalm 51:10, Create in me a clean heart oh God. God is always faithful even though I’m not – but He stays close to me and wants me to follow Him.
