It was good to be back in the pulpit @ FBC today after missing last week due to surgery. But I watched the TV broadcast tonight of last week’s sermon and David Mitchell did a great job in my absence. We are blessed to have such a talented staff.

Now to some of today’s highlights…

  • We had four young families participate in our parent-child dedication. I love seeing those young children and their parents.
  • Your response to ringing the bell for the Salvation Army Kettle at both entrances to the mall Wal-Mart was outstanding. Every slot is filled. Praise the Lord! We are covering those entrances each Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Great job!
  • We had strong participation in tonight’s Dinner with the Pastor and several of them will be joining FBC this Sunday and the weeks to come. They had some great questions during the Q & A time. This is one of my favorite events.
  • Monieca and I were one of the last ones to leave our campus this morning and Monieca commented as we left the parking lot that it was exciting to see more people hanging out in the parking lot talking. She was right. More and more of you are doing that. It’s like you enjoy being together. I think that puts a smile on our Lord’s face.
  • At the end of this morning’s sermon, I challenged us to obey God for one day. That day is December 8 and each of us is asked to give a tithe (10 percent) of our next pay check to the church on December 8. One of the many reasons believers tithe is to acknowledge that we recognize God’s rightful place and our true place in the order of things in this universe He created. Even if you have never tithed, do it this one day. See what it’s like.

What was something that stood out to you Sunday? What did you really enjoy? How did God bless you and work in your life? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

I can’t wait to see what God does next Sunday. Invite a friend to come with you to FBC this week.
