“Whatever you are, be a good one.”

This brief quote from Abraham Lincoln says a lot in just a few words. It easily applies to the various aspects of a person’s life. If you are a husband or wife, be a good one. If you are a father or mother, be a good one. If you are a teacher, police officer, secretary, construction worker, bank officer or worker of any other kind, then be a good one.

If you are a preacher or Sunday School teacher, be a good one. If you are a care group leader or choir member, be a good one. If you are a deacon or greeter, be a good one. If you are a servant in any ministry, be a good one.

All believers are blessed with talents and spiritual gifts. We are called to serve. The Bible tells us that some believers will hear Jesus speak these beautiful words on the judgment day, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” They are the good ones.

As you look in the mirror, examining the various aspects of your life, ask yourself this question: “Am I a good one?”
