June 20, 2013 By Steve Hogg Leave a Comment

I received a letter from an elderly saint who faithfully watches the broadcast of our worship services on the local cable network each Sunday evening. She expressed her appreciation for the sermons and congratulated me on losing weight before asking me this question, “By the way did you make up the bed before Monday?”

In a recent sermon, I mentioned that Monieca was in KY and I was alone for the weekend. Since I hate making the bed I had not made it since she left. My bride, on the other hand, is a dedicated bed maker. She can’t stand to leave the bed in a mess. I asked the congregation to pray that I would follow through with my good intentions to make the bed the morning she would be returning to SC. This was not because I really wanted to make the bed – I didn’t. It was because I love her and when you love someone you do what you know pleases them – like making the bed.

It’s the same with us and God. If we love Him, we do what pleases Him. Our relationship with the Lord really is that simple…and beautiful.

Pastor Steve Hogg

PS The answer to the question is, “Yes, I did make the bed.” Thanks for praying.
