While eating lunch yesterday at one of my favorite meat and three type places in Rock Hill, I spoke to several people who either knew me or knew who I was. In addition to the wait staff and a couple who attend FBC, there was a man who watches me on TV and another couple who had heard me preach at their church nearly a year ago. Their church is an historically African-American congregation that is seeking membership in our local Baptist Association and I had preached one evening during their revival.
They followed me to the register and as I started to pay for my lunch, they spoke up and offered to cover my tab. After a brief exchange, I thanked them and accepted their kindness.
From time to time people graciously pay for my meal and I always appreciate their generosity. Experiences like this one are a pleasant surprise that encourage me. They also remind me of God’s generosity.
The Lord often surprises us with blessings when we are not expecting them. Some of them are small, while others are large. Each blessing is a gift for which we should be thankful.
I’m looking forward to the unexpected blessings God will give Monieca and me while we’re in Italy the next three weeks. I’ll use this blog to post photographs and updates on our travels. I’ll tell you about our new granddaughter. I’ll also tell you about some of the blessings…those unexpected things that touch me in some unique way. I don’t know what they’ll be, but I do know that my God loves to bless us. I hope you’ll check this blog regularly to read all about it…and see some nice photographs.
I also encourage you to follow us on Instagram. When you search for me, I’m steve_hogg. Just request to “follow” me.
