Megan has a big smile. She’s young, outgoing and likes people.
I noticed her while eating lunch today at a local restaurant where she works. She was a natural at checking on customers, easily talking to them but not in a way that seemed overbearing or intrusive.
Since I’m also a talker, when she arrived at my table the conversation just flowed. Idle comments led to a conversation about prayer, Jesus, church, old boyfriends, past hurts and more. It ended with me giving her an invite card to First Baptist. I knew enough about her by now to be specific and invite her to our 9:10 am service because that’s the one she would respond to best.
I enjoy meeting people and have discovered that most people like to talk. Conversations often turn to spiritual matters and church, making it easy to invite them to church.
Since I like inviting people to church, I make it a point when I’m out in public to intentionally strike up a conversation with strangers. The conversations don’t always open a door to invite the person to church. But you’d be surprised how often they do open that door. So I’m going to keep talking to people and I encourage you to give it a try.
After all, you’ll get to meet some really neat people.
