No Excuses in Relationship with Others

Many times people who profess Christ with their lips fail to live Him with their lives. When we confess to be a Christian to those with which we work and play, then they use our lives as an example of Christ and His teachings. Too many times we live and speak in a careless manner and without intending to, we preach a false gospel.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. So watch yourselves. (Luke 17:1-3, NIV)

A millstone was a heavy stone used for grinding of grain. It was so heavy a man couldn’t pick it up; a donkey would have to pull it. So, imagine the depth of Jesus’ feelings when He said that it would be better for someone to be cast into the sea with a millstone around his neck than to cause a little one to stumble. If you want to get Christ riled up, then cause someone to stumble.

No Excuses Challenge

Think over your daily habits and actions, and think about the gospel your life is preaching to those around you. Decide one thing that needs correcting and find where in the Bible it addresses this attitude. Memorize the verse.

The person who really wants to do something finds a way;
