“Our sweet Belle is now in Heaven.”

With those words Belle’s mom shared with the world that Belle’s five year battle with brain cancer has ended. Now her eternal life in the Father’s House has started.

But what is heaven like?

When someone dies, we often say they’re now home in heaven. “Home” is a good word for heaven.

We associate so many good experiences and emotions with the word “home”:

  • family
  • love
  • security
  • comfortable
  • peace
  • happiness
  • belonging

The list could go on and on, but you get the point. Heaven is all of that and so much more. In John 14:2 Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places.” The Greek word translated “house” is the common word people in Jesus’ day used to describe home. So heaven is not a cold and impersonal mansion where we feel out of place. It is home. That’s where Belle is today. She’s home…in her Heavenly Father’s house. And she is enjoying all the great things available there.

Just how great is it? Here is how I Corinthians 2:9 describes it: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” If it is better than anything we’ve seen, heard, or imagined – it must be pretty good!

Belle did not lose her battle – she won!
