Read the following Bible verse several times:

Ecclesiastes 5:15
“As he had come naked from his mother’s womb, so will he return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.”

Having read this verse several times, what is God saying to you?

Answer these questions:

  • Here is another verse in this Old Testament book drawing lessons by contrasting or comparing birth and death. Take a moment to visualize the birth of a child…born naked. This verse says we die the same way. We take nothing with us. What are some of the things people spend their lives working to gain?
  • What are the things you’ve worked hard to have in life?
  • How will it feel to leave it all behind?
  • As believers, we have Jesus when we die. That’s all we have. How important is it to you to know that Jesus will be with you when you die?
  • Since we all die “naked” how tragic will it be for your neighbors, relatives, friends, and coworkers who will die “naked” without Jesus Christ? How does that make you feel?
  • What are you going to do about it?
  • Who is that person you know that has accomplished so much in life that their accomplishments intimidate you so much that you never talk with them about Jesus?

After answering these questions write or verbalize a personal prayer to God.

Praying for our church:

  • Pray that God helps you value eternity more than you presently value it.
  • Pray for the friend you will invite to church this week.
  • Continue praying for the neighbors you plan to invite to our July 1 “Celebration of Freedom.”
