Read the following Bible verse several times:

Ecclesiastes 7:1
“A good name is better than a good ointment, and the day of one’s death is better than the day of one’s birth.”

Having read this verse several times, what is God saying to you?

Answer these questions:

  • What are some of the emotions people usually feel when a child is born?
  • What are the emotions people usually feel when someone dies?
  • Then how can the day of death be better than a person’s day of birth?
  • Is this true for everyone who dies?
  • What makes it true for some people when they die?
  • If knowing Jesus and going to heaven is what makes death better than birth, what implications does that truth for our evangelism as a church? Does it have implications for your witnessing as a believer?

After answering these questions write or verbalize a personal prayer to God.

Praying for our church:

  • Pray that you will become a bold witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Pray for the person you will invite to church this week.
  • Continue praying for the neighbors you plan to invite to our July 1 “Celebration of Freedom.”
