Twelve days at the beach in June were relaxing, so much so that Monieca and I’ve actually enjoyed spending a few days of our vacation this month at home.  Normally vacation days at home feel like wasted days off – not this year.  While home we’ve caught up on some projects we had put off.  Fun things like cleaning the vinyl siding and fence, cleaning and sealing the deck, installing a new mail box and post, organizing some storage areas, and more.

I even got out the pressure washer and – wow!  Once you start, where do you stop?  The sidewalk and front steps now look amazing.  I knew they dirty and needed cleaning – but wow!  Now the driveway looks “bad” in comparison.

It’s amazing how fresh things look after a good cleaning.  They look new.

Isn’t that also true of us when we come to Jesus in repentance and receive God’s forgiveness for our sins?  I would say that cleansing is even more amazing.

I really like these Bible verses:

Pslam 51:2 “Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin”

I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

Pslam 51:7 “Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow”

Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me”
Titus 3:5 “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit”
If there is any sin in your life, confess it now.  Sins makes us dirtier than we imagine.  Forgiveness makes us new.
