Psalm 139:23-24
“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.”

Many of us are discovering when we fast and pray, God does what the Psalmist described above.  When we break our normal routine of doing, going, talking…God speaks to us and we actually hear Him.  As He examines us we begin to see ourselves more clearly.

Perhaps the fear of seeing ourselves more clearly is what keeps some people from fasting and praying.  Yet growth and joy come only by allowing God to search us AND then show us what He found.

I encourage you to participate in this Five Week Challenge. If you do, you will be glad.

The Challenge involves:

  • FASTING one day each week. You choose the day and type of fast.
  • PRAYING for two different church members each day. Choose people you don’t normally include in your prayers.  This week also pray for two different items each day listed in last Sunday’s bulletin.
