Hebrews 4:15-16

15 For we do not have a high priest (Jesus) who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.                                                                      16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

I love this passage of scripture.  Each time I read it, I’m encouraged in my faith.

It tells me some very important things:

  1. Jesus knows how I feel.  When I struggle or hurt, He gets it.  His experiences on earth as the Son of Man is evidence of His compassion for me…for you…for all of us.
  2. Jesus welcomes us every time we approach Him in prayer.  He tells us to come to His throne with “confidence.”  We don’t have to be timid and afraid.
  3. Jesus will help us by showering us with His love – “mercy” and “grace.”

Sometimes in life when we are hurting, just having someone with us who loves us helps.  We find strength and some measure of comfort in their presence.  Jesus’ presence can do that and more for us.  When your heart is heavy, run to Him.  Don’t run away from Him or His people.  Draw close to Him and His people.  Let His love, and the love of your church family, help you during the hard moments in life.
