Well, week two is here and I can’t wait to hear about God’s work in your life. Remember the challenge has two parts – Fasting and Praying.
- Fast one day each week during the five weeks. You choose the day and type of fast. This week you choose the purpose of your fast.
- Pray for two different people each day in our church for whom you don’t normally pray. Sunday I asked you to add another element to your daily prayer time in addition to praying for two people. Pray each day for two different items described in Sunday’s bulletin. If you did not get a bulletin you can view it on our web site. Click “Members” at the top of the home page and then choose “PUBLICATIONS.”
- Visit my blog each day for a word of encouragement or an update on the Challenge. Then leave a comment to let us know what God is doing your life. Let’s have a conversation and mutually encourage one another.
When we pray, remember that God wants us to:
- Be sincere
- Focus on Him
- Have heart and passion
- Make specific requests
Remember – God’s throne is one of grace and love when we approach it in prayer. We are welcome there and He always wants to hear from us.
Hebrews 4:16 “let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace”
I look forward to blogging each day this week about prayer and providing some encouragement to you. I pray it is a blessing to you.
If you weren’t able to be with us Sunday, you watch the sermon on the church’s web site. Click the Live Streaming icon and choose the 9:10 service – we had some technical issues during the 10:30 service.

Pastor Steve,
I had the opportunity to put into practice praying for someone at the moment they share their need….. I told them I would remember them in prayer and as soon as I said it I recalled your saying yesterday to go ahead and pray now….. She was so grateful…. Thank you for the reminder.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you were able to pray with them. It can be a powerful experience.

Many times I too have said to someone “I’ll pray for you.” And while a number of those times I in fact did, there were at least as many that I forgot. I will try to try to remember what you said Sunday, and pray for them right there.
Tomorrow I will be fasting from social media and internet, except for what little I may need for work. While FB and other social media can at times be beneficial, it is also a huge time waster. As I go through my day tomorrow, each time I think about opening my iPad, I’ll stop, put it down and pray, or read my Bible.
