No Excuses in My Relationship with God’s Kingdom

Read: 2 Timothy 3:10-13

You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

We live in a world where standing up for Christ and the Kingdom of God is viewed as negative and intolerant. We are afraid to stand up against the evils of the day because we will be labeled a radical and pushed to the fringes.

To stand up for God’s kingdom at work may mean you get passed over for a promotion, or are left out of the camaraderie that goes with working with a team of people.

Paul was telling Timothy what he knew all too well, that living a life committed completely to God in a world bent on living for oneself will cause conflict to come into your life. So what do we do? Become Invisible!

On Sunday we show up loud and proud, professing God in song and teaching, but wrap ourselves in spiritual camo during the week, disappearing into the world that is none the wiser that we are followers of Christ.

But, you say, “I have a fish on my car and a One Way sticker,” as if that sums up God’s Kingdom work. Paul calls for Timothy to be bold and to follow his example.

Is your faith invisible to those that you meet and work with every day?

Are you compromising in any area so as to not appear different?

Today, make it a point to be bold and upfront about your beliefs. Find someone today that doesn’t know you’re a Christian and tell them.
