Earlier this week I stopped at a local restaurant for lunch and two FBC members already seated invited me to join them. During our conversation one of them asked me a few questions about our Six In 6 Capital Campaign. He stated that when he first saw the vision of $6 million in 6 years, he wasn’t too sure about it. Then he added that God has been changing his mind. He’s been doing the daily readings in “Draw the Circle” as part of our 40 Day Prayer Challenge and the Lord is using it to make him think differently. He now says God can do it.
I shared with these brothers that it has been a journey for me personally over the past few years. After a lot of reflection and prayer I realized we as church, and me individually, had shown a lot of faith in past years when we undertook our relocation from downtown. But as time passed and the demands of managing the ongoing ministry of our church increased, it was easy for me to fall into too much of a maintenance mode. God has brought me to the place that I believe it is time for us – for me – to once again exercise faith – to believe in something God wants us to do that is bigger than what we know we can do.
I enjoyed the hour or so of fellowship with these brothers I’ve known for nearly three decades. I was encouraged to hear from a brother in Christ now in his 70s that God is still speaking to him and his faith is still growing.
Living in faith actually energizes us in a way that just maintaining the status quo doesn’t. Just how energized are you? How much faith do you have?
