I had the privilege Sunday afternoon of leading eight couples in renewing their marriage vows. Married between six and 34 years, they had spent several weeks meeting on Sunday evenings learning how to be better husbands and wives. Renewing their vows was a great way to celebrate their love for each other and reaffirm their commitment to each other.

So we gathered for lunch at the City Club and talked about what they had learned during their weekly gatherings. They shared stories and fun memories from their past, including their wedding day. Then each couple stood, held hands and and renewed their vows. It was a beautiful experience. I’ve posted some pictures below of the celebration.

With so many marriages ending in divorce, spending time with these couples who are committed to becoming even better at marriage than they already are was a blessing to me and Monieca. I am proud of them for making the effort to learn and having the courage to talk about issues that are not always easy to discuss. I’m happy they are happy and determined to keep their marriage going strong for the rest of their lives.
