I’ve spent more money on new clothes the past two months than any time I can remember. While getting new stuff is fun, its impact on cash flow is less enjoyable. I’ve looked hard for good deals and gotten a lot of stuff at really good prices. I can bargain hunt with the best “ladies” around. Monieca even got tired one day and quit on me.
Having lost so much weight has been good for me in a lot of ways. I’m glad I did it. It’s definitely been worth it. But it hasn’t been cheap.
Then neither are a lot of really important things in life. In fact most really good things in life are not free. We often have to give up something to gain something else. For instance, you can’t hang out with your friends once you’re married as much as you did when you were single. You can’t be a physically fit athlete if you spend most of your free time in front of a TV. You can’t know the Bible if you read everything except the Bible. You can’t have money for retirement if you spend all your money on stuff you want now. You can’t…well, you get the picture.
It’s been said many times that the enemy of the great is the good. Sometimes in order to have something great we have to willing to let go of something good. The great is never free.
Even our salvation cost Jesus something.
Are you willing to pay the price in order to have what God wants to do in your life?
