A lot of us were touched emotionally Sunday afternoon when we watched Bill Crute lay hands on his son, Will, during Will’s ordination to the gospel ministry. I know I was!
Even without the sight of a dad participating in his son’s ordination, such services are always special for me. They help me recall my own ordination and those persons who were an important part of my early spiritual journey. Usually during the ordination service the Holy Spirit uses a song or something someone does to speak to my heart. Yesterday there were two such moments.
The first one was when we sang the song “ancient words.” Being reminded that I’m preaching the words of Jesus – the same message preached by Paul, Peter, Timothy, John and other early preachers was deeply moving.
The second moment was when I saw Will cry after his dad prayed over him. I’ve known both of them for nearly three decades. I’ve know them in different roles and watched as their relationship traveled all the different twists and turns of a father and son. I watched what I’m sure was a very special moment for each of them and it got to me – in a good way. Looking around the room I could tell it “got to” some others as well.
I encourage you to offer a special prayer when you read this for Will Crute. He is now an ordained minister of the gospel. He is young and just beginning his ministry. Pray that God empowers and protects him through all the years to come. Pray for his marriage and for his wife. Give thanks to God for his obedience to God’s will for his life. Give thanks to God for his family and the people of this church whom God used in the past to nurture Will’s walk with Jesus.
Finally, pray that God calls more young men and women in our church to serve Him in ministry.

What an awesome Testimony of Linda & Bill’s lives. I have known them for many years and they are truly wonderful Christians and have always been kind in word and deed. May God Bless His Servant and guide him and his wife in the days ahead.
