I enjoy sitting outside in the evenings once the sun has set and darkness has taken over. It’s peaceful and I relax. Crickets, tree frogs, night birds and other creatures sing to me. There’s also an owl that often hoots in the distance.
The mornings are similar, but still different. It’s like there is an orchestra of birds chirping before the sun rises and they make truly beautiful music.
The Psalmist declared: “How many are Your works, Lord! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth if full of Your creatures” (Ps. 104:24 NIV). In other words, God personally created that beautiful orchestra and the music they make.
There is much God has done to bless us with peace and relaxation. So why do we spend so much time drowning out the sounds He created to bless us? Why do will fill our lives with so much noise?
Perhaps the greatest sound we drown out is His voice.
Take some time today – this week – to be quiet and listen. Turn off all the noise and just listen. Our Lord will speak. It’s up to us to hear.

Amen Steve! I also love to sit on the porch in the evenings as the sun goes down to listen to the sounds of nature. It is in those quite times I often hear from God! This past week I took the time to sit on the porch with each of my grandsons alone at separate times.It was so neat listening to them share what they heard! I ask them who made the things they were hearing and they each quickly said “God did Mimi ! “ I am thankful they are each being taught about God , creations story , God’s love and what He did for them on the cross! Colt sang a song to me about the Salvation Bracelet that was so sweet. He can tell you very quickly what Jesus dying on the across means for him! He is only 4 but ,I think he has a pretty good grasp of salvation .
