Silence: Find a quiet place, remove potential distractions, clear your mind of other thoughts, and ask God to speak to you as you read and contemplate this passage:
Reflective Reading: Read Psalm 150:1-2, 6 thoughtfully:
1 Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Meditation: Reflect on this praise psalm (song), one of the many carried in the book of Psalms (believed to be the hymn-book used by the musicians in Solomon’s temple). What is God speaking to you through this praise song? What is the challenge to God’s people?
Oration: From your reading and prayer, verbalize or write in the space below your response to what God is speaking to you from this passage:
Contemplation: Over the next day, contemplate this passage and what God is saying to you. Think on these topics:
- What is your favorite praise song or chorus? Sing it aloud several times in the day.
- Repeat these words from Psalm 150 aloud several times during the day.
- Do you participate in the congregational songs that are played/sung in our church services? Does it make a difference whether your praise is offered aloud vs. silently
- What actions might this passage be directing you to begin?
