Thursday afternoon I bumped into David Harmon at Target. During our conversation he told me about two prayer requests God had put on his heart and how he had drawn a circle around them as a symbol of his commitment to pray daily for each concern. He was excited because God had answered both prayers. He also mentioned how much he had enjoyed the “Draw the Circle” devotional. Each week in their Sunday School members have been talking about what God has been doing and saying to them through the devotional. I was encouraged by his testimony and we ended our conversation with a brief prayer for his upcoming surgery.
There’s not anything magical about drawing a circle, but there is something powerful about hearing from God and intentionally praying each day for God to move in this world and in people’s lives. This devotional has been encouraging and challenging to a lot of us and I praise God for how He continues to use in our church family.
It is equally important that we gather from time as a church family to pray. That is one reasons I’m inviting you to join us on Sunday evening, February 22 from 5:00 – 6:30 PM for the “Giving Ourselves to God” prayer event at FBC. I promise you this 90 minutes will pass quickly and you will be impacted spiritually. You will not have to pray out loud. By moving through a series of prayer stations, God will touch your heart as you seek Him in prayers guided by the Bible and the Holy Spirit. Even if you have never attended a prayer event before, you’ll need to attend this one. You’ll be glad you did.
