During last night’s worship service, leaders from the Salvation Army presented an award to FBC for being the top group (all churches, civic organizations, institutions, etc) in the tri-county region for ringing the bell at their kettle stations during the Christmas season. You’ll remember we covered both entrances to the Wal-Mart at the mall each Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as a few other locations on some Saturdays. Donations at our stations were about $7,500. This helped provide Christmas toys for kids, as well as assistance with people’s utility bills, etc. WELL DONE VOLUNTEERS. This Christmas I hope even more of us will volunteer. It’s a fun two hours that makes a difference. It’s also something great to do together as a family of couple.

PS That $7,500 doesn’t include the savings to the Salvation Army because they didn’t have to pay people to ring the bell…which they have to do when there aren’t enough volunteers.
