Our First Baptist Family of Faith received an award yesterday from the Salvation Army (photograph below) for having more volunteers ring the bell more hours during their annual kettle drive this past Christmas season than any other organization. They told us FBC members did as much as all other groups in our community combined. Way to go!

When all of us do something we can do a lot. Each year we ring the bell at both entrances to the Galleria Walmart each Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We serve in two hour shifts, so it doesn’t tie up anyone’s day. Yet together we get the job done and help the Salvation Army serve the needs of a lot of hurting people in our community.

“Thank you” to everyone who volunteered last year. In fact so many of you volunteered we easily filled all of our slots and many FBC members served in other locations. Let me encourage you to make it part of your Christmas celebration this coming December to ring the bell. It will be fun and you’ll be making a difference in people’s lives.

Pastor Steve Hogg

PS If you rang the bell last Christmas (or one of the years before that) tell us about your experience below.
