No Excuses in My Relationship with God’s Kingdom
There is no doubt that we are to be living examples of Christ to the world. We are to live in such a way that when others see our good deeds they will be pointed toward God. (Matt 5:16) It is very important that we who call ourselves Christ Followers have a life that matches Christ’s life. The word Christian simply means Christ-like person.
But many times we neglect to share the good news of Jesus to others and use the excuse that we just try to live the gospel in front of them. “I don’t have to share the verbal word because I share the example.”
Paul tells us in Romans 10:13-15
for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
How can they believe unless they hear? Someone has to tell them about Jesus. Someone could watch you live an incredible life in front of them, but never draw the conclusion that it is because of your belief and faith in Christ Jesus. How are they to know you are Christian and not just some extremely moral person?
We need to speak the name of Jesus to those who are far from God. Just including the name brings focus to the conversation. It is by that name the Bible says that every knee will bow and confess.
Listen to these stinging words from Christ.
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” (Mark 8:38, NIV)
No Excuses Challenge
Today you need to say the Name of “Jesus” to someone at work, school, or in the grocery story. (LOL: You have to say it loud enough for them to hear it.) Make Him a part of your conversation and watch Him change lives.
The dog ate my notebook with all my good excuses.
