At night or whenever we leave the house, Monieca and I set our burglar alarm. It gives us a sense of security when we’re sleeping or when we’re gone and the house is empty. Several weeks ago we were out of town and our daughter accidentally set it off. A York County Sheriff’s officer checked on the house for us. In this day and age, that peace of mind is worth the monthly fee.

People desperately want peace and security in their lives. But when it comes to eternity, real peace and real security only exist when Jesus Christ is their Savior and Lord. When death comes, a security system is of little value. Neither is a large bank account or a long list of accomplishments.

I remember when the men from Comporium installed the security system in our house during construction. I remember when my Uncle Don witnessed to me about Jesus. I remember when Ms. Young came to our elementary school and told Bible stories using a flannel board. I remember when Evelyn invited me to church, an invitation God used to change my life.

Does anyone remember you witnessing to them about Jesus?

Is there anyone who will have peace and security when death comes calling because you were the person God used to offer them the gift of eternal life?

Invite someone to church this week. Share your testimony with a friend who is lost. Ask a coworker if he or she knows for certain they will go to heaven when they die. At the very least, say something to someone.

Security and peace of mind is a good thing.
