Most of you know that I’m an avid UK fan and I often declare my allegiance to big blue. One thing that makes it a lot of fun is the fact that there are a lot of us. UK never plays a basketball game without a large contingent of fans in the arena…no matter where the game is played.
Last year’s game in Columbia against the Gamecocks was an example. There were considerably more UK fans at the game than USC fans (see the photo of my son and his wife below).
The other night Butler beat North Carolina in Maui and the game was on TV. Sitting directly behind the Butler bench was a…you guessed it…a UK fan proudly wearing UK blue (see the photo below). See…we’re everywhere!
Why all this not so subtle bragging? Well it got me thinking.
A few weeks ago we gave out several hundred First Baptist Church decals and asked people to put them on their car windows. Since then I’ve begun seeing them around the city. Every time I see one, I feel proud. Wouldn’t it be great if those who are part of our FBC family proudly displayed those decals and wore our FBC shirts everywhere?
Don’t keep it a secret that you go to church. Don’t keep it a secret that you are part of FBC. Be excited and make it known.
After all, being part of God’s family is more important than being a fan of any school…including UK. Did I just say that? Yeah I did…because it’s true.
