The team made it to Lundazi, Zambia today (Monday) about 2:00 pm, which would be 8:00 am in SC. We’re excited to be here and also ready for a good night of sleep. It has been a long trip, but it has gone smoothly and God has shown us favor in several ways.

Our trip started Saturday morning when we arrived at the Charlotte airport at 4:00 am for our 6:00 am flight to Washington DC. From there we flew to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where we connected with another flight to Lilongwe, Malawi. We arrived in Lilongwe at 1:00 pm Sunday (7:00 am in SC). If you do the math, you’ll realize our trip took more than 25 hours. We happily spent Sunday night in the Baptist Guest House in Lilongwe, then drove six hours today to Lundazi.

Tonight we are eating dinner at the home of David and Heather Petro, the SBC missionaries we’re working with while here. Tomorrow we begin our evangelism work. We’ll be going home to home in one of the villages sharing Bible stories as a way to sharing the gospel. Hopefully each home will allow us to come back the next day and share another story. The stories build on each other and Saturday is when we will invite them to commit their lives to Jesus Christ.

Please pray for us to sleep well – we’re feeling the effects of all the travel. Pray that the Holy Spirit gives us supernatural energy and good memory recall while sharing the stories. Pray that God gives us favor with those we meet and that they are willing to hear the stories. Pray that we remain healthy and are filled with the Holy Spirit.

On a sad note, we learned during breakfast this morning that one of our SBC missionaries serving in Malawi died from Malaria. During our prayer time, it was obvious David was deeply moved by the news. Please pray for the surviving husband and all of our missionaries serving in Malawi and Zambia.

In addition to me, Kathy Troutman, Brian Wilson, and Sara Hogg, our team includes Natalie Markle. She is a member of David Petro’s home church in Charlotte. I’ll share more tomorrow, but for now I’m sleepy and I smell dinner.
