Praise God! Yesterday was a great day. The ice melted enough that we were able to gather for both of our regular worship services. The only adjustment was moving the 8:00 am Sunday School classes to 10:30 for the day. And the attendance was really good.
Three young guys were baptized yesterday – by their fathers. What a joy it was to celebrate with them. I loved the expression on Jack Mitchell’s face when he came up out of the water. Priceless!
Jay Rinehart and Michael Baker spent two hours discussing budgets and other financial issues during the financial workshop. These workshops are very helpful to a lot of people and I really appreciate the investment of time and knowledge these two men give our congregation.
We had a good group at Dinner with the Pastor last night and several of them chose to join our Family of Faith. During the Q&A several of them expressed gratitude for various people and ministries at FBC. At times it felt more like they were there to tell us how much they liked FBC than to ask questions so they could learn more about us. Their comments were very encouraging.
During the worship services yesterday I mentioned that whenever there is inclement weather we will post any adjustments to our normal schedule on the church’s website, as well as Instagram and the church’s Facebook page. If nothing has been posted on those media platforms, it means no decision has been made yet. We don’t normally make decisions on the basis of weather forecasts, instead preferring to see what the weather actually does since our location is often on the edge of weather patterns that can change dramatically in a matter of hours.
On a personal note Monieca and I enjoyed having our son, Steven, and his wife, Sara, with us for the weekend. After lunch they returned to their home in Lexington, SC in time to attend Dinner with the Pastor at the new church they are now attending. Also Jacqueline and her family will fly to the states later this week in time for her meet with her oncologist in Charleston. Your continued prayers are appreciated.
Below are some photos from yesterday. Enjoy!
