It may have been cold and wet outside today, but the first Sunday of 2014 was filled with blessings. Here are a few of them:
- A young man accepted Jesus as his Savior during the invitation in our 10:30 am service. We also had two children make public professions of faith in the 9:10 service. Jesus is always glorified when people are saved.
- I enjoyed speaking with several guests today. One woman asked about joining FBC because she is ready and feels this is the church God has for her. A family who recently moved to our city asked several questions about our youth ministry, Sunday School, and our Wednesday night ministries. It’s always exciting and fun when I meet new people.
- Signups for our new Equipping U classes that start on Wednesday night continued today. Women were also signing up for the various Bible studies sponsored by our Women’s Ministry. I’m always blessed when I see people eager to learn and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
- We also kicked off our month long focus “No Excuses” and challenged ourselves to use the next 30 days as an experiment to do everything God asks us to do. We want to live Biblically in every area of life. In other words, live a “No Excuse Life” and see what God does to make our lives different…to grow and change us. This morning’s message challenged us to stop making excuses in our relationship with God. We also distributed devotions to help you. The devotions will be available online at the church’s web site, with each day’s devotion uploaded at 5:00 am each morning.
I look forward to hearing about your experiences this month. Share with me what God reveals to you, what He does in your life, how He grows and changes you during this “No Excuse” experiment. Post a comment below or email me steveh@fbcrockhill.org
