I’m excited about the four week sermon series titled “GROWTH” we kicked off yesterday. We’re going to learn a lot about spiritual growth as followers of Jesus Christ. One woman mentioned to me that she regretted the years she had wasted not growing and was glad God had spoken to her so clearly.
We also recognized Steve White for 15 years of faithful service as Minister of Music & Worship. I remember flying to Florida to spend the day with Steve and Victoria when we were interviewing him and it was on that trip God gave me peace about our calling Steve to join our staff. Like I said yesterday…nobody does a better job with a choir than Steve.
Our children sang in both worship services and I got a real kick out of their enthusiasm. If only we adults had both their rhythm and passion. They practice each Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm, so bring your kids and grandkids to rehearsal. They’ll have a blast.
One family joined the church at 10:30 and others prayed at the altar about various needs. It seems that yesterday illnesses and the death of loved ones among our family of faith were heavy on our hearts. I prayed with two people while walking around the worship center who were grieving the recent loss of family members.
Finally at 10:30 it felt like there was BIG hole in the crowd because our youth were on retreat and the place they normally sit during this service just didn’t look the same. I missed them but am glad they’re having a great time. Check the photographs on the church’s Instagram and Facebook pages and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
