The Christmas season is in full swing @ FBC as the worship choir and orchestra, with help from our children’s choir (photo below), presented “The Gift of Christmas” to a packed house @ 4PM and then again @ 7PM tonight. They did a great job and I was able to speak with several guests.
I kicked off my Christmas sermon series titled “What Will YOU Bring.” Just like the Wise Men, we can bring gifts to Jesus. Each Sunday we’ll focus on one gift we can bring Him and our motivation for doing so. We’ll also examine how bringing Jesus that specific gift benefits us and how it makes a difference. Finally, we will highlight one specific FBC ministry in each message. Today we heard from a volunteer in our media ministry and why he enjoys serving Jesus this way. A big part of his joy in serving comes from knowing that homebound members, as well people in the community, can hear the gospel and worship with us because of our television broadcasts.
It was cold and wet outside, but attendance was good. If you missed today, I look forward to you being with us next Sunday. Remember to bring a friend with you.
Today was “Prove the Tithe Day” @ FBC and I’m thankful for each person who gave. While the amount given won’t be known until tomorrow, this challenge has already been a time of spiritual growth for some of our members. I mentioned this morning that anyone who forgot to bring their tithe could bring it next Sunday. So there is still time for you to participate.
Merry Christmas,
Pastor Steve Hogg
