This week I want to start with the highlights from Sunday evening.
About 60 people attended the financial workshop Sunday afternoon and the information Jay Rinehart and Michael Baker presented was practical and very helpful. I was especially pleased to see so many young and middle aged adults present. Because of something I heard during the workshop, I’ve already had conversations with my sister in KY about one issue as it relates to our mom. God is using these workshops to help a lot of people.
Dinner with the Pastor was a lot of fun Sunday evening (see photos below). This is one of my favorite events. We had 14 guests and six of them will be joining FBC this Sunday. Several others will be joining in the weeks to come. I received an email from a man who attended telling me he learned more about Baptists during this event than he had learned in his whole life. I appreciate all the volunteers who help make this event a success by preparing and serving the meals. They do a great job.
Sunday morning I kicked off a new sermon series and cast the vision for our capital campaign. We are praying that God will give us the ability to pay our existing debt of just over six million dollars over the next six years. This is much bigger than us. This is vision from God and only God can do it. We distributed “prayer tents” you can put on your kitchen table, office desk, or any other location where you will see it and be reminded to pray. If you didn’t get a prayer tent, they will be available in the worship center this Wednesday evening and next Sunday morning. You can email me any questions you have about the campaign at steveh@fbcrockhill.org.
On a personal note, our grandson Liam had fun helping Monieca greet people as they arrived on the preschool hall Sunday morning. It’s safe to say he was our youngest “greeter”. For those of you who are older than four and looking for a way to serve at FBC, the preschool and children’s ministries are a great place to get involved. After all if a four year old can do, you know you can. Contact Holly Matthews (Hollym@fbcrockhill.org) or Rene Pitts (Renep@fbcrockhill.org) to investigate ways you can serve.
