We wrapped up the “24: Journey to the Cross” sermon series with a message that looked at how Jesus showed love and forgiveness from the cross. Not only did He die for everyone in order to pay the penalty for our sins, He demonstrated love and forgiveness to those who were actually there the day He died. When Jesus tells us to love our enemies and forgive those who hurt us, He speaks with authority not only because He is divine but also because He practiced what He preached.
We also observed the Lord’s Supper in each service today. Having just reflected on Jesus’ crucifixion added to the power of the always meaningful experience.
The music today really blessed me. God has blessed us with incredibly talented people and I’m thankful for each of them.
Last Sunday I told the congregation that if at 10,000 candy-filled plastic eggs were donated before today, I would wear the Bunny ears that Holly gave me. Well the photographs on Instagram and Facebook prove that you did it – we have more than 10k eggs and really looking for Saturday’s Easter Egg Hunt. We’re expecting a large crowd. Thanks for helping us with this outreach event.
I announced this morning that we were able to make an additional payment this week of $125,000 toward the principal on our loan. Your generous giving is making a difference. Keep praying for our “Six In 6” capital campaign – six million dollars in six years.
Monieca and I enjoyed lunch today with Dave and Carol Stanford. Dave recently retired after more than 30 years as Pastor of FBC Clover. He was on staff at FBC Rock Hill in the late 70s and early 80s. Pray for them as they transition to this new phase in life.
Several men showed up at 2:00 pm this afternoon to help us get a “surprise” ready for our Easter services. I appreciate them giving up some time on Sunday afternoon for the Lord and our church.
Remember to pray every day for those you are inviting to Easter services this coming Sunday. Worship service times will be 9:00 am and 10:45 am, with no Sunday School.
Have a blessed week everyone,
Pastor Steve Hogg
