We kicked off a new sermon series titled “Peter: a man who followed Jesus” and I got a nice email afterward from a woman thanking me for the message. She described how she has been walking closer to God the past several months and has changed as a result. However she also has had the unfortunate experience of someone close to her that doesn’t understand or appreciate the change say something hurtful. During the sermon God affirmed her faithfulness and enabled her to let go of the comment and its pain. She plans to keep walking with Jesus. I love it when I learn about God’s work in someone’s life.
During the 10:30 service, David Mitchell baptized five young people. I never want us to take for granted children and teenagers accepting Jesus as Savior and following Him in believer’s baptism. Praise the Lord for each of them and I ask you to join me in praying for their growth and spiritual protection.
After the services, Monieca and I ate lunch at the church and celebrated with Woodrow and Linda Feemster. In May they will have been married 50 years and their children planned this special occasion for them. It was beautiful watching both of them get choked up as they renewed their marriage vows. Fifty years of marriage should be celebrated and I pray their example encourages other young couples to love and treat one another the right way.
I then went home, took a nap, and spent the evening with my beautiful wife. It was a good day.
