I really enjoyed the worship and fellowship @ FBC today. While that is usually true, I just felt it deeper in my spirit today. For that I’m thankful.
During the 10:30 service, a breaker blew about 10 minutes into the sermon and shut down our sound system. A temporary fix restored it after about 10 minutes. Meanwhile everyone moved as close to the front as possible so I could continue preaching. God moved among us and Satan had to be mad because God’s people just kept worshiping Jesus.
The music was beautiful and moving. People prayed at the altar and made significant decisions. One person joined our Family of Faith. The refreshments…
What can I say? They were great!
Continued improvements to our First Impressions and Welcome Ministry were made today with the new setup in the back of the worship center. I appreciate our team of volunteers and the great job they are doing. The refreshment area was a big hit and I was blessed watching so many people hang out and talk.
Today wrapped up the first week of our FIVE WEEK CHALLENGE and I sense God is up to something in our church. Remember the challenge is to:
- Fast one day each week during the five weeks. You choose the day and type of fast. This week you choose the purpose of your fast.
- Pray for two different people each day in our church for whom you don’t normally pray. Today I asked you to add another element to your daily prayer time in addition to praying for two people. Pray each day for two different items described in today’s bulletin. If you did not get a bulletin you can view it on our web site. Click “Members” at the top of the home page and then choose “PUBLICATIONS.”
- Visit my blog each day for a word of encouragement or an update on the Challenge. Leave a comment to let us know what God is doing your life. Let’s have a conversation and mutually encourage one another.
Today the church also selected 12 men to serve new terms as deacons. God has blessed us with a great group of deacons and I look forward to these 12 men joining the team. We also distributed the new ministry budget and nominating committee report for the new church year.
As you get ready for next Sunday, remember to invite someone to come with you.
